2012 brought about many changes. While many of these were challenges, we’ve chosen to view them as an opportunity for growth. Many have had their hearts and minds expanded much in the last year, which some of us are calling a shift of consciousness. This is our focus as we put our energies into this growing and ever changing event that we now call Leyenda Eterna.
The name Leyenda Eterna means Eternal Legend. First, this name honors the two legendary men to whom we are all eternally grateful, Blue & Cade. They found the canyon, and put tireless time, love, and work into the community that we are celebrating at Leyenda Eterna. We also chose this name because the canyon itself is legendary and the memories we have made here together are eternal. And lastly there have been many legendary moments in the canyon, and it is our goal to create many more.
This year we really want to focus on “Unity Through Community”. This community is very fortunate to have such an eclectic group of friends and chosen family, but that often forces us to come face to face with people who hold beliefs different from our own. Rather than see different beliefs as reasons to divide us, we want it to be an opportunity to create unity through love, understanding, and acceptance.
Who among us hasn’t judged someone unfairly? (Remember, it counts even if you’re only thinking it). Or maybe you stopped listening to what someone was actually saying because you were eagerly composing your rebuttal. We are all guilty of this type of behavior on occasion, which is why we are making this year’s theme “Unity Through Community.” From our scientists to our spiritualists, our skeptics to our sparkle ponies, we love all of you and want you to love each other. As a community, our willingness to accept even the hardest of truths and thinking outside the box is what brings us together.
Let’s celebrate our differences because they are also the things that can unify us. We cannot wait to see the sparkles in your eyes and smiles on your faces. This year when you’re packing for the canyon, make sure to bring an open mind. Whether or not you believe what your neighbor believes, take the time to listen and you may learn something new.
Come with an open mind, and leave with a full heart. Our goal is for your journey in this magical oasis to leave you filled with joy, new ideas, new friendships, and a renewed appreciation for the love we feel for this wonderful community.
